Australia Helps Cambodia Develop Wastewater Treatment Policy

The Australian Embassy is assisting the Ministry of Public Works and Transport in drafting a policy to manage wastewater treatment systems, aiming to improve sanitation and the well-being of the public.

According to the official meeting on 18 November, the Australian Embassy will assist Cambodia in organising a workshop to exchange knowledge, experience and best practices related to wastewater management, which is scheduled for 6 -7 December 2022.

The workshop will discuss detailed strategic policies and action plans on wastewater management based on basic wastewater management policies.

The two sides will also discuss the draft General Specification of Sewerage System and the National Guidelines for the Management of Natural Wastewater Treatment Systems (FSTP) in collaboration with the Asian Development Bank (ADB).

Besides Australia, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has also helped draft a policy on Cambodia’s wastewater system for the Ministry of Public Works and Transport (MPWT) and has submitted the government since May this year. (Read more)
