Automated brick factory to be commissioned in Kampot

An automated brick factory in Kampot province is scheduled to be commissioned in 2021, with production to feed the growing construction sector in the province.

An investment by Gold Mountain Plaster Enterprise, the factory is to be equipped with a modern automated system capable of producing 800,000 units of bricks per day.

According to the Kampot provincial administration, construction of the factory is currently 80% complete and scheduled to become operational in 2021 in Trapaingrun village, Tani commune, Angkor Chey district, Kampot province.

The type of bricks produced from the factory will be unique in their lighter weight compared to other bricks which make use in construction easier.

PhouLik, deputy governor of Kampot, told Construction & Property Magazine on 10 June that more brick factories will facilitate the construction in the province which is seeing a booming construction sector.

“We are aware of construction inKampotsignificantly booming. Especially hotels or residential buildings are popping up even in the time of COVID-19 outbreak,” he said.

“If there is more investment in brick factories in the province, it is better because it reduces the cost of transporting bricks and other building materials to the province.”

According to Mr PhouLik, most bricks and other building materials have been transported from Phnom Penh with transport costs pushing prices up.

In a field trip to the factory construction on 09 June, Kampot governor H.E. Chev Tay highly valued the modern technology equipment at the brick factory.

“Producing bricks, with such a high technology of the factory, will meet the current demand of the construction sector which is growing everywhere in the province, ensuring adequate timely supplies to construction sites,” said Tay.
