Bak Kheng Water Treatment Plant Nears Completion: Phase I Accomplished, Phase II Progresses

Significant strides have been made in the construction of the Bak Kheng Water Treatment Plant, with Phase I reaching an impressive completion rate of 100%, while Phase II stands at an impressive 70% progress.

The esteemed Phnom Penh Water Supply Authority has announced the successful conclusion of Phase I construction for the Bak Kheng Water Treatment Plant. With a remarkable daily production capacity of 185,000 cubic meters, this state-of-the-art facility commenced test production and distribution of clean water since 21 April 2023, marking a monumental achievement in the domain of water infrastructure development.

Phase I will bring the gift of clean water to seven districts located on the outskirts of Phnom Penh, encompassing Dangkor Por Senchey, select areas of Meanchey, Sen Sok, Russey Keo, Kambol, as well as two communes within Prek Pnov and the vibrant Takhmao City.

Moving forward, Phase II of the Bak Kheng water treatment plant, boasting an impressive production capacity of 195,000 cubic meters per day, has surpassed the 70% completion milestone. According to the latest report from Fresh News, this phase is expected to commence operations in early 2024, further enhancing Cambodia’s water infrastructure landscape.

Aligned with the 2018 production system expansion plan of the Phnom Penh Water Supply Authority 2025, the construction of the Bak Kheng Water Treatment Plant (Phase I and II) is set to solidify its status as the largest water infrastructure project in Cambodia’s history. With a remarkable daily capacity of 390,000 cubic meters, this landmark initiative signifies a major leap forward in the nation’s quest for comprehensive water supply solutions.

As the Bak Kheng Water Treatment Plant approaches completion, it heralds a new era of enhanced water accessibility and quality for the people of Cambodia.
