Banteay Meanchey Received Almost US$1.5M Daily from Customs Revenues

Banteay Meanchey province has earned almost US$1.5 million in customs revenue daily, making it one of the most successful provinces in Cambodia in this regard. This was announced by HE Um Reatrey, Governor of Banteay Meanchey province, during a press conference held on 28 March 2023.

“Based on the data of the customs branch reported, in some months, Banteay Meanchey ranks first in the country in terms of customs revenue, with only Preah Sihanoukville province surpassing it. The province has been receiving a surplus every year, and in 2022 alone, it received a tax revenue of 25 billion Riel,” said HE governor.

He attributed the success to the efficient arrangement of an official gateway for revenue collection and the participation of people, traders, and investors, which made a contribution to the success of approximately US$1 million to US$1.5 million in revenue daily.

The significant daily customs revenue generated in Banteay Meanchey province reflects the strong performance of Cambodia’s economy and tax system, contributing to the government’s ability to fund infrastructure projects and social programs.
