Cambodia & China Unveil Cultural Corridor at Siem Reap Angkor International Airport to Foster Deeper Ties

Cambodia and China have officially inaugurated a Cultural Corridor at the Siem Reap Angkor International Airport, a landmark initiative to bolster ties and enhance people-to-people exchanges between the two nations. The ceremony, which underscored the strategic importance of Siem Reap Angkor International Airport as Cambodia’s key gateway to the world, was held on 6 August 2024.

HE Chhean Leang, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Information, highlighted the airport’s pivotal role in connecting Cambodia globally and emphasized that the newly established Cambodia-China Cultural Corridor is poised to attract international tourists to explore the rich natural landscapes and cultural traditions of Cambodia, China, and other Lancang-Mekong countries.

During the event, HE Xia Yunhai, Deputy Director General of the International Broadcasting Department of the Information Office of the State Council, remarked that the corridor would significantly enhance the travel experience at the airport and contribute to building a shared future for China and Cambodia in the new era.

Located in the departure area for international travelers, the Chinese-Cambodian Cultural Corridor at Siem Reap Angkor International Airport features a photo exhibition themed “World Heritage Meeting, Civilization: Studying Each Other, To Each Other.” The exhibition presents 100 exquisite photographs highlighting the cultural heritage of China, Cambodia, and other Mekong countries. In addition, the static exhibition area showcases three main themes: “Embroidery,” “Sculpture,” and “Colorful,” which celebrate the intangible cultural heritage of Yunnan Province, China, and Cambodia.
