Cambodia & South Korea Join Forces in a Three-Year Endeavor to Preserve & Restore Angkor Wat

The Cambodian government and the Republic of Korea have formally entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) dedicated to the conservation and restoration of Angkor Wat over the next three years. This significant pact was officially inked on 19 February 2024, in a collaborative effort between the Cultural Heritage Administration of the Republic of Korea and the Apsara Authority of the Kingdom of Cambodia.

The primary focus of this MoU revolves around the meticulous conservation and restoration of Angkor Wat, the iconic temple that stands as a symbol of Cambodia’s rich cultural heritage. The three-year timeframe underscores the commitment of both nations to the sustained preservation and enhancement of this historical masterpiece.

Beyond the physical restoration efforts, the MoU encompasses comprehensive training programs and knowledge exchange initiatives. These activities are designed to leverage cutting-edge technologies, contributing to the presentation and interpretation of Angkor Wat’s historical significance for both national and international audiences.

This collaborative venture not only reaffirms the enduring cultural ties between Cambodia and South Korea but also symbolises a shared commitment to safeguarding and showcasing one of the world’s most treasured cultural landmarks.
