Over 77 Kilometers of New Roads Set to Boost Rural Economy in Takeo Province

Cambodia officially inaugurated seven rural roads, totaling $41.40$ kilometers in length, while simultaneously breaking ground on seven more rural roads, covering a total of $36$ kilometers, all within Takeo province.

The ceremony was presided over by His Excellency Chhay Rithisen, Minister of Rural Development, and His Excellency Chea Vandeth, Minister of Post and Telecommunications, on December 11, 2025.

The seven newly inaugurated rural roads, with a total length of $41.4$ kilometers, are composed of double-bituminous surface treatment (DBST) asphalt and concrete. This achievement falls under the framework of the Climate-Friendly Agribusiness Value Chains Sector Project (CFVAC). It was funded through cooperative financing from the Royal Government of Cambodia, the Asian Development Bank (ADB), and the Green Climate Fund (GCF).

Concurrently, the groundbreaking ceremony for the seven new roads, which total $36$ kilometers, is also part of the CFVAC project. This construction is financed through cooperative funding from the Royal Government of Cambodia, the Asian Development Bank (ADB), and the Cambodia Agricultural Sector Diversification Project (CASDP), which receives credit financing from the World Bank.

The construction of these seven new roads is projected to be 100% complete no later than January 2027.

Regarding the road infrastructure achievements in Takeo province, H.E. Chhay Rithisen and H.E. Chea Vandeth highly praised these new accomplishments, which clearly demonstrate the Royal Government’s focus on constructing road infrastructure to stimulate the rural economy. It should be noted that Takeo province has a total of 784 rural roads, stretching approximately $2,600$ kilometers, with nearly $500$ kilometers already surfaced with double-bituminous asphalt and concrete. The inauguration and groundbreaking ceremonies mark additional achievements that are expected to lead to greater economic growth and a higher population.

Recently, in line with the Royal Government’s vision, the Ministry of Rural Development has also launched the National Policy on Rural Development 2025-2035. (Read more)
