Cambodia Makes Historic Agricultural Export to Australia

In a significant milestone for bilateral trade, Cambodia has successfully exported five major agricultural products to Australia for the first time, totaling 12 tonnes. This landmark shipment signifies the growing economic cooperation between the two nations and aims to expand Cambodia’s export portfolio.

The inauguration ceremony for this historic export took place on August 14, 2025, and was attended by His Excellency Samheng Bora, Secretary of State for Commerce and Chairman of the Export Promotion Working Group of the Ministry of Commerce, alongside the Australian Ambassador to Cambodia.

During the event, His Excellency Samheng Bora praised the strengthening economic ties between Cambodia and Australia, highlighting the importance of sustainable trade practices. The initial shipment included cashew nuts, mango seedlings, dried jackfruit, bananas, and rice cakes, with plans for future exports set to increase the quantity and variety of agricultural products sent to the Australian market.

According to recent data from the General Department of Customs and Excise of Cambodia, the trade volume between Cambodia and its international partners has surged. In the first five months of 2025, total trade reached over 25 billion baht, reflecting an 18.5% increase from the same period in 2024. The figures indicate that Cambodian exports totaled 11.80 billion baht, marking a 17.2% rise, while imports reached 13.48 billion baht, up 19.7%. (Read more)
