Cambodia needs more skilled labours responding to high-tech industrial investment

Cambodia Prime Minister Samdech Hun Sen has said that Cambodia needs a large number of technical experts to meet the large investment in high-tech industries, as Cambodia has a number of electrical components and vehicle assembly plants.

At the graduation ceremony for students of the National Polytechnic Institute of Cambodia on 27 February, PM Hun Sen said that there are currently many vehicle companies in Cambodia, including Ford, Hyundai and Toyota.

“Recently, big companies who came with the President of Germany, talked about the intention to invest in Cambodia. I welcome them, but when they invest, we have to ensure that we have skilled labourers to support their production line,” he said. (Read more)

Under the industrial policy framework, technical training is required, he added.

In late 2021, Cambodia introduced a new investment law to increase the country’s competitiveness for foreign investors by modernizing local industries and protecting the rights of investors.
