The bilateral trade volume between Cambodia and Japan is set to surpass US$2.4 billion in 2022, prompting discussions to establish more Cambodian private business centers by 2023. This was announced during the opening ceremony of the “Cambodia Expo 2023” event held in Tokyo on May 3, 2023.

According to HE Chhuon Dara, Minister Delegate to the Prime Minister and Secretary of State of the Ministry of Commerce, the delegation visited the Cambodian Private Business Center in Asuki, Kanagawa Prefecture to facilitate the center’s operation. During the visit, he met with the Center Manager and expressed his confidence that the center will move forward successfully. (Read more)

Furthermore, HE Chhuon Dara held meetings with several major Japanese companies to promote the establishment of more Cambodian private business centers in Tokyo and Osaka in 2023.

In 2022, the bilateral trade volume between Cambodia and Japan reached more than US$2,454 million, of which Japan exported to Cambodia about US$ 515 million and imported back from Cambodia about US$ 1,939 million.

Rice, pepper, and Khmer silk are among the products that have received high interest and continuous orders from tourists and Japanese people.

As the trade volume between Cambodia and Japan continues to grow, the establishment of more private business centres will enhance economic cooperation and provide an avenue for increased trade and investment opportunities for both countries.
