Cambodia’s air travel has shown a remarkable growth of 872,049 passengers and 6,699 flights in the first quarter of 2023, according to HE Sin Chanseryvutha, Secretary of State for Civil Aviation. This is a positive sign for Cambodia’s aviation industry, which was severely impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic.

March 2023 saw a significant increase in the number of inbound and outbound flights, with 2,464 flights and 313,067 passengers, an 11% increase from the previous month.

With 26 airlines operating passenger flights between Cambodia and 11 other countries, including South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Laos, Singapore, Malaysia, the Philippines, Myanmar, and Vietnam, the largest number of flights was between Cambodia and Thailand, with 890 flights carrying 103,378 passengers. China came in second with 410 flights totalling 41,064 passengers.

The number of flights and passengers has been steadily increasing since the beginning of the year, with February recording 2,134 flights and 283,091 passengers, while January had 2,101 flights and 275,891 passengers.

The increase in air travel is a positive sign for Cambodia’s tourism industry, which has been hit hard by the pandemic. As Cambodia continues to vaccinate its population and implement strict health protocols, the country is on track to attract more visitors in the coming months.
