Cambodia Sees Surge in International Tourist Arrivals in Early 2025

In a promising start to the year, Cambodia welcomed nearly 2 million international tourists in the first quarter of 2025, marking a remarkable 16% increase compared to the same period in 2024. This growth was highlighted by HE Minister Huot Hak, Minister of Tourism, during a recent meeting aimed at promoting the Green Season Tourism Campaign on 7 May 2025.

The influx of tourists has considerably boosted the local economy, generating over USD 23 million as visitors explored iconic cultural sites such as Angkor Wat, Koh Ker, Beng Mealea, and Phnom Kbal Spean, Exciting activities, including boat rides at scenic locations like have also enriched the visitor experience, reinforcing Cambodia’s reputation as a destination for both cultural tourism and adventurous exploration. Additionally, the State Secretariat for Civil Aviation (SSCA) reported an upward trend in travel dynamics, with a total of over 22,000 inbound and outbound flights recorded through Cambodia’s major airports—Phnom Penh, Siem Reap, and Preah Sihanouk—reflecting a 17% rise from the previous year. The number of passengers traveling in both directions reached 2,525,208, showcasing an 18% increase, while air cargo volume also grew by 8%, totalling 22,350 tons.

Notably, the report identified the top six countries generating the highest traffic to and from Cambodia: Thailand, China, Vietnam, Singapore, Malaysia, and Korea. These countries are leading the charge in terms of flight numbers and passenger volumes, positioning Cambodia as an unmissable destination for travellers seeking unique cultural experiences and vibrant natural landscapes.

With compelling statistics and a robust commitment to tourism promotion, 2025 is poised to be a pivotal year for Cambodia’s flourishing tourism industry.
