Cambodia’s Trade Volume Surges to Over USD28 Billion in 2024

In a significant boost to its economy, Cambodia has reported a trade volume exceeding USD 28 billion in 2024, marking an impressive 18% increase from the previous year. The latest import trade report from the General Department of Customs and Excise reveals a total import value of approximately USD 28.5 billion, reflecting robust growth in the nation’s economic landscape.

The rise in imports can be attributed to several key sectors, including steel products, machinery and raw materials essential for investment projects, as well as construction materials, vehicles, and various foodstuffs. This diverse range of imports highlights the ongoing development in Cambodia’s industrial and construction sectors.

On the export front, Cambodia also witnessed a substantial uptick, with a total export trade volume of USD 26.5 billion in 2024. This figure signifies a commendable increase of approximately 15.8% compared to 2023. Notably, garment investment products soared by 23.3%, while non-garment investment products—which encompass tires, electronic components, wiring harnesses, wood products, and bicycle components—experienced a more modest rise of 2.6%. Furthermore, agricultural exports, including paddy, rubber, cassava, rice, bananas, and cashew nuts, grew by 11.6%.

In conjunction with the growth in trade volume, the General Department of Customs and Excise reported tax and excise revenue collections of 10,542.2 billion riels, equivalent to around USD 2.59 billion, an increase of 13.8% from the previous year. (Read more)
