Chinese tire manufacturing giant Sailun Group has announced a substantial plan to increase its investment in Cambodia’s rubber processing industry, aiming to expand the output of its Svay Rieng-based tire factory.

This key decision was highlighted during discussions between Yuan Zhongxue, Honorary Chairman of Sailun Group, and PM Hun Manet at the 8th Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) Summit in Kunming, China, on 6-7 November 2024.

At the meeting, Mr. Yuan confirmed Sailun’s intentions to intensify its rubber processing into various high-demand products, particularly tires, focusing on domestic and international markets.

PM Hun Manet voiced firm support for this expanded investment, recognizing its potential to boost Cambodia’s production capacity, strengthen economic development, and bring new employment opportunities.
