Chinese Experts to Help Cambodia Design Master Plan of Preah Sihanoukville Province

Chinese experts from the urban planning and design institute in Shenzhen city will start designing master plan for development in Preah Sihanoukville province, after a senior official explained that a master plan is important for the government which considers Preah Sihanoukville province as a multi-purpose economic zone.

In a recent meeting with H.E Cham Prasidh, Senior Minister and Minister of Handicrafts and Industry, Mr Xiao Sima, head of the Shenzhen delegation said the institute will bring successful experience and win-win solutions, which have been used in developing Shenzhen city, to apply in Cambodia.

Mr Xiao Sima said that the design of the master plan is to be made in line with the industrial development program of Cambodia 2015-2025, according to a post on the ministry’s Facebook page.

H.E. Cham Prasidh highly values the project and said that once the design of the master plan is finished, it will be brought to be discussed at the inter-ministry level before being submitted to the Council of the Ministers for checking and approval.

H.E. Cham Prasidh expects the master plan made by the Chinese experts from Shenzhen city to be comprehensive for the development in Preah Sihanoukvile, and for the province to become a modern and attractive investment destination and an industrial hub.

Provincial governor of Preah Sihanoukville H.E Yun Min welcomed the project and said the master plan will contribute a lot for development in the province.

Located on the country’s coastal area, Preah Sihanoukville province is well connected with infrastructure including main roads, a deep seaport, an international airport, and the railway.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of Cambodia, has said that he wants the Sihanouk Special Economic Zone to become like Shenzhen city in southern China’s Guangdong province.
