Chinese Investors Propose Agro-Industrial Park to Boost Cambodia’s Agricultural Sector

In an exciting development for Cambodia’s agricultural sector, a group of 50 Chinese investors has unveiled plans to establish a cutting-edge agro-industrial park dedicated to processing the nation’s bountiful agricultural products. This ambitious proposal, aimed at transforming Cambodia into a key player in the agricultural trade arena, was revealed during a high-level meeting on March 5, 2025, with His Excellency Sun Chanthol, Deputy Prime Minister and First Vice Chairman of the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC).

Leading the Chinese delegation was Ms. Li Fengzhi, Deputy Governor of the People’s Government of Guangzhou City, accompanied by His Excellency Wang Wenbin, the Chinese Ambassador to Cambodia. The meeting emphasized Cambodia’s flourishing investment environment and highlighted various opportunities across sectors such as industrial plants, the automotive industry, electronics, green energy, education, digital technology, and, notably, agriculture and agro-industry.

Ms. Li Fengzhi articulated the vision for the agro-industrial park, seeking in-depth collaboration with the Henan Provincial Government. The project is poised to serve as a special trade zone, facilitating agricultural product processing, manufacturing, storage, and the provision of modern agricultural technology services. This initiative promises to attract a diverse array of companies invested in elevating Cambodia’s agricultural success.

This announcement follows a recent meeting with a Japanese business delegation consisting of 40 companies, which also explored investment possibilities in Cambodia’s burgeoning transportation and logistics sector. (Read more)

As of January 2025, Cambodia has seen considerable investment interest, with total capital inflows reaching approximately USD 748 million. Notably, Chinese investments account for an impressive 73.35 percent, translating to approximately USD 548 million.
