More than 100 items of construction machinery manufactured by Chinese firm XCMG have been imported to support construction projects across Southeast Asia, including Cambodia’s first expressway project, according to an XCMG press release.

On 16 April 2019, XCMG reported that it had recently hosted a delivery ceremony for 100 XE215 excavators worth around US$7.45 million to Southeast Asia to serve on different construction projects, thanks to the large-scale investment across the region as part of the China’s ‘Belt and Road’ Initiative (BRI).

The company reported that it had joined Cambodia’s first expressway construction project for the 190km-long road connecting Phnom Penh to Sihanoukville, a key BRI project. Ground was broken for construction of the expressway on 22 March. (Read more)

Additionally, XCMG has supported a large mining project in Indonesia and is providing tunnel construction equipment for a hydropower station project in Myanmar.

“As the BRI deepens cooperation across Southeast Asia, XCMG will seize opportunities and develop in local markets with our ‘Advanced and Endurable’ products, one-stop construction solutions and worry-free services,” said Zhike Song, General Manager of XCMG excavator machinery.

XCMG is a 76-year old multinational heavy machinery manufacturing company which ranks sixth globally in the construction machinery industry.
