Construction & Real Estate Investment Capital Registered in New State-Run Online System at US$1.2bn

As of 24 August, a total of 7,715 companies have registered their businesses through the new online business registration system with a total investment value of approximately US$3 billion, of which investment from construction and real estate companies attributed over one third.

According to a report by the Ministry of Economy and Finance on 1 September, construction companies shared the largest proportion of total investment value, equivalent to 25% or US$750 million, while real estate companies accounted for 16% or US$450 million.

Apart from these two sectors, there were also three other large-capital sectors, including automobile exports and imports accounting for 16%, manufacturing for 14%, and finance and insurance for 8%.

Launched in June last year, the Online Business Registration system is a new government measure to enhance Cambodia’s competitiveness and boost the investment environment.

This system streamlines all the processes and procedures of business registration in Cambodia using information technology. (Read more)
