Four Wellknown European Firms Eye Expansion & Investments in Cambodia’s Thriving Markets

A consortium of European giants, including Airbus, DHL, Roche, and Lidl & Kaufland, are setting their sights on Cambodia, keen to explore the prospects of expanding their production within the burgeoning Southeast Asian nation. This strategic move was unveiled during a pivotal working meeting, held on 24 October 2023, orchestrated by the EU-ASEAN Business Council and led by HE Nuth Un Vanra, Deputy Secretary General of the Investment Committee of Cambodia.

According to HE Un Vanra, the primary objective of this high-level conclave was to shed light on the investment potential and avenues within Cambodia. Additionally, it aimed to underscore the substantial groundwork undertaken by the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC), all in a bid to provide indispensable support to investors seeking opportunities in this thriving nation.

He added that the CDC has been unwavering in its efforts to attract foreign investments. These efforts have materialized through the launch of dedicated investment platforms, catering to a spectrum of investors from Europe, Japan, China, Korea, and even specialized agro-food investment desks. The commitment to bolster Cambodia’s automotive and electronics sector has been unwavering, as has been their determination to provide a comprehensive outlook on investment prospects in Cambodia for 2023.

The crux of this meeting unveiled a promising development. Notably, several heavyweight EU corporations, most notably Airbus, DHL, Roche, and Lidl & Kaufland, have indicated their profound interest in exploring the horizon of investments and the potential for expanding their production operations within Cambodia. This profound interest further solidifies Cambodia’s position as a vibrant hub for foreign investment and underscores its prominence on the global economic stage.

In addition to the participating European giants, the EU-ASEAN Business Council has played a pivotal role in catalyzing investment and trade between the European Union and the ASEAN region. Its membership roster boasts industry leaders across the spectrum, ranging from finance, logistics, technology, agriculture, oil and gas, and healthcare, to food and beverage.
