Government exchanges 800 hectares of land in the Phnom Tamao Zoo area with the private sector

The government​ has decided to exchange 800 hectares of land in the Phnom Tamao area to a private company -Khmer Fresh Milk for development, and the government reclaimed 1,122 hectares in three different locations.

According to a letter from the Office of the Council of Ministers dated  January 14, 2022, two locations in the Phnom Tamao area in Kandeung commune, Bati district, Takeo province have been transferred to Khmer Fresh Mill Company.

The 300-hectare area is the location of the Phnom Tamao cattle station was exchanged for 400 hectares of land in Teuk Phos District, Kampong Chhnang Province, including some other property such as administrative buildings.

The 500-hectare site​ is Phnom Tamao Zoo and Animal Rescue Center, which was exchanged for two plots of land, one 250-hectare site in the Banteay Srei Forestry Development Station in Banteay Srei District, Siem Reap Province, and another covers an area of 472 hectares in Oreang district, Mondulkiri province.

The 250-hectare land in Siem Reap will be used for the Safari Angkor Zoo and 472-hectare land in Mondulkiri province will be set aside for the Mondulkiri Botanical Garden.
