Hong Kong and Macau set their sights on establishing an electric motorcycle assembly plant in Cambodia

In an exciting development for Cambodia’s green future, a delegation of investors from Hong Kong and Macau, China, has set its sights on establishing an electric motorcycle assembly plant in the country. This ambitious plan was unveiled during a pivotal meeting on December 13, 2024, between HE Chea Vuthy, Secretary General of the Cambodian Investment Committee, and Mr. Wang Jiawei, the CEO of Glorank (HK).

With a focus on tapping into Cambodia’s potential, Mr. Wang emphasized the need for investments in electric motorcycles and battery production, which align with the global shift towards sustainability. “Our visit signifies the growing confidence in Cambodia’s investment climate,” Wang stated. He expressed gratitude for the comprehensive information the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC) provided, which he believes will steer their investment decisions.

Secretary General Chea Vuthy praised the initiative as a significant step forward, highlighting that electric motorcycle assembly is an economic opportunity and promotes environmental protection. “This project complies with our national laws and regulations, making it a win-win for our economy and the planet,” he noted.

The potential establishment of this assembly plant could boost Cambodia’s motorcycle market, catering to a growing demand for eco-friendly transportation options. Additionally, the CDC has encouraged investors to consider the creation of special economic zones focused on electric vehicle production to establish strategic industrial clusters.

As the meeting concluded, both parties expressed optimism about the future, with a goal of cultivating a robust electric vehicle industry in Cambodia that promises innovative transport solutions and sustainable economic growth. Cambodia could soon become a key player in the electric motorcycle market as the world moves toward greener technologies.
