Angkor Wat Attracts Record Revenue of US$24m in First Nine Months of 2023

In a remarkable testament to Cambodia’s enduring appeal as a tourist destination, the iconic Angkor Wat temple complex has generated an impressive US$24,955,397 in revenue during the first nine months of 2023. This revenue was derived from ticket sales to the Angkor complex, drawing the admiration of 539,561 foreign tourists. The surge reflects a remarkable 365.42% increase compared to the same period in 2022.

A report released by the Angkor Institute on 1 October 2023, revealed these staggering figures, underscoring Cambodia’s growing popularity as a must-visit destination on the global tourism map. Notably, for the month of September 2023 alone, the Angkor Institution raked in a substantial US$1,863,466 from the sale of 41,048 tickets to foreign tourists visiting the Angkor complex. This signifies an impressive growth of 74.06% in revenue compared to the corresponding period in 2022.

The entrance fees for international tourists visiting Angkor remain at US$37 per day, US$62 for a three-day pass, and US$72 for a week-long exploration of this architectural marvel. These entrance fees provide visitors with access to a treasure trove of cultural and historical wonders, further cementing Angkor Wat’s status as a global heritage site of immense significance.
