Kampong Speu Authorities Confiscate Over 3,400 Hectares of Forest Land in Oral Mountain Sanctuary

Kampong Speu provincial authorities have confiscated an additional 3,434 hectares of forest land in the Oral Mountain Wildlife Sanctuary, reclaiming it as state property. This decision follows the recent confiscation of more than 1,400 hectares of forest land earlier in 2024, as stated in the order dated 7 June 2024.

The order mandates the confiscation of forest land seized through illegal land grabbing, affecting three sites in the Oral Mountains Wildlife Sanctuary, located in Trapeang Cho commune, Oral district, Kampong Speu province.

Previously, the Kampong Speu provincial authorities had also confiscated over 1,450 hectares of forest land in Oral district, returning it as state property after similar instances of illegal land acquisition. (Read more)
