Koh Kong Provincial Authority Implements Ban on Land Purchase and Ownership Transfers in Sre Ambel District

The Koh Kong Provincial Authority has made an important announcement regarding land transactions in Sre Ambel district. As per the press release dated June 23, 2023, all land transfer licenses pertaining to the remaining land from the policy settlement have been rendered null and void.

This decision affects two groups comprising 175 and 200 families respectively, residing in Chik village, Chhouk village, Trapeang Kandol village, Chikh Leu commune, and Bak Angrot village, Dong Peng commune, Sre Ambel district, Koh Kong province.

The provincial authorities have clarified that the remaining land, previously granted under the policy settlement, is now recognized as state land and falls under the jurisdiction of the Koh Kong Provincial Administration. Consequently, any encroachment, possession, or sale of these lands will be deemed illegal and subject to legal repercussions.

In light of this development, the Koh Kong provincial authorities have demanded that those currently occupying the state land in question vacate the premises promptly. Failure to comply with this order will result in the provincial administration taking appropriate legal action.

The implementation of the ban on land purchase and ownership transfers in Sre Ambel district reflects the authorities’ commitment to upholding the law and safeguarding the proper use of state land. This decisive action aims to address the issue of illegal land occupation and ensure compliance with the regulations governing land ownership in Koh Kong province. As the provincial administration moves forward with its plans, it strives to maintain a fair and just environment, fostering responsible land management practices for the benefit of all stakeholders involved.
