Land Ministry urges developers to build disability-inclusive infrastructure

The Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction (MLMUPC) has urged developers to include infrastructure facilitating disabled people in their construction projects, aiming at creating equality and an inclusive society.

In a letter dated 16 August, MLMUPC Minister HE Chea Sophara has instructed the responsible official to pay high attention to disability-inclusive infrastructure in all building construction projects.

“Design and architectural floorplan of all construction projects that applied for construction permits such as government administrative buildings, schools, educational institutions, hospitals, health centres, residential houses, hotels, restaurants, markets, factories, shall include the construction of infrastructure to support disable people,” said HE Sophara.

The Minister has also ordered the inspect team to closely check if the completed construction does include the infrastructure as mentioned in the design.

If any building constructions do not have the proper physical infrastructure for disable people, authorities must not issue occupancy certificates.
