MISTT Accelerating Drafting of Law on Science, Technology & Innovation Park Establishment

The Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology, and Innovation is accelerating the drafting of a sub-decree on the establishment and management of science, technology, and innovation (STI) parks to attract investment technology companies.

The ministry recently held inter-ministerial technical meetings with relevant parties and the private sector to review and provide inputs on the draft sub-decree on the STI park establishment and management.

HE Heng Sokkung, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology, and Innovation, said on 28 July that the STI Park establishment and management will help attract investors, business people, and innovative people to participate and invest in STI research in Cambodia.

He said that by investing in the parks, large technology companies are expected to be able to transfer high technology to the local market.

“The Science, Technology, and Innovation Parks focus on the research and development, prototype to talented innovators, and science museum, artificial intelligence, big data or robotics,” he said.

According to the plan, the Royal Government of Cambodia plans to establish at least three STI parks by 2025, in Phnom Penh, Kandal and Preah Sihanoukville provinces.
