MME & JICA to Form Roadmap for Clean Energy Transition Towards Being Carbon Neutral

The Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME) and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) have signed a minute on the implementation of a clean energy transition roadmap for Cambodia to become carbon neutral.

The road map on the clean energy transition forward carbon neutrality refers to the use of clean energy, such as solar, wind, etc., and minimizes energy consumption from carbon, such as coal.

According to the meeting held on 26-29 April 2022, this clean energy project has been planned through the exchange of protocols between the Royal Government of Cambodia and the Royal Government of Japan on 17 February 2022, which provided official channels for technical cooperation.

The energy transition work is divided into two parts: 1) clean energy work and 2) energy efficiency work.

For energy efficiency work, the Ministry of Mines and Energy has cooperated separately with the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
