MOE: Land Types in Cambodia Divided into 21 Categories

Preliminary data on land use in 2022  has divided land types in Cambodia into 21 categories, according to Minister of Environment  HE Say Sam Al on 23 November.

According to the minister, the 21 types of land include rice fields, rubber fields, cashew farms, forests and others.

The study of land use data is to understand precisely the level of land use in Cambodia, which will be useful for strategic planning.

Preliminary land use data for 2022 provides more detailed land information through the use of artificial intelligence (AI) technology to show the level of land use across the country, from crop identification, and forest thickness, to road size calculation.

The data will also assist local authorities in monitoring and making decisions, especially those related to urban planning, public works and transportation, and in particular support Cambodia’s national development strategy and food security.
