Mondulkiri 100-megawatt Wind Power Project Still Being Studied, No Completion Date Given

Studies continue on a 100 mW wind power project in Mondulkiri province with conclusions expected soon, according to the Director-General of Energy of the Ministry of Mines and Energy HE Victor Jona.

However, this senior official did not provide any specific timeline as to when the study will be completed.

“When the feasibility study is completed, which is expected to be soon, it will move to the tariff negotiation stage and construction stage eventually,” said HE Victor Jona.

The project is investment owned by Xinglan Maritime Energy Co., Ltd with a value of US$200 million. The firm received permission from the Ministry of Mines and Energy in mid-May 2019.

Xinglan Maritime Energy Co., Ltd is a joint venture between renowned local Maritime Group and a large renewable energy company from China’s Xinglan Group.

Besides this project, Cambodia also has another 80mW wind power investment project in Kampot province by The Blue Circle. This project is now in the tariff negotiation stage. (Read more)
