MPWT Intends to Promote Green Logistic Policy in Cambodia

The Ministry of Public Works and Transport (MPWT) is committed to learning from the upcoming International Transport Forum (ITF) on how to effectively implement green policies, such as the usage of electric vehicles, in Cambodia.

MPWT Minister HE Sun Chanthol made the declaration during a meeting with the Secretary-General of the International Transport Forum (ITF) Young Tae Kim on Thursday 10 June.

HE Sun Chanthol said that Cambodia plans to host the International Transport Forum in November 2021, which gives Cambodia a lot of opportunities to learn regarding effective transportation management systems.

“We want to work closely with the ITF to address all transportation issues both in Cambodia and in the region. Besides, Cambodia also wants to learn more from the forum’s regarding the green transport policies and strategies,” said HE Chanthol.

“Cambodia is lacking green transportation policies at the moment. For example, to date, Cambodia does not have many usages of electric vehicles yet, but we are moving toward that direction,” he added.

HE Chanthol has also requested recommendations from the ITF regarding the usage of GPS systems on vehicles to detect and control illegal transportation activities.
