MPWT to modernize transportation and public works system in line with government’s digital policy

The Ministry of Public Works and Transport (MPWT) has been gradually reforming and modernizing the transportation and public work system nationwide, aiming to achieve the government’s digital policy by 2030.

This is according to the input gathering meeting for the draft digital policy 2021-2030 between the Ministry and other relevant officers on 28 May.

MPWT’s spokesman Vasim Sorya said that the input collection meeting is to help the ministry analyze the information more comprehensively before drafting the policy.

Despite the upcoming draft policy, he added that the MPWT has thus far succeeded in carrying out many modernizing projects by adapting the technology into many public services.

For instance, 550 BeiDou GPS units will be subsequently installed across Cambodia to interdict illegal transportation activities nationwide. (Read more)

The Beidou GPS is a GPS technology that can help enhance transportation regulation and safety by reporting issues such as overloaded trucks, speeding, and tracking vehicles avoiding the weigh stations, among other illegal activities.

Meanwhile, the Ministry is also planning to utilize AI technology to manage traffic systems, especially the overweight trucks along the NR5 after the upgrade (Read more)
