National Road No.2 and 22 to Begin Construction in November

After many years of waiting, the expansion of National Road No. 2 and 22 financed by the South Korean government, is scheduled to break ground in November following a contract agreement signed by the Ministry of Public Works and Transport (MPWT) and Korean construction firm.

On 25 June 2019, H.E Sun Chanthol, Senior Minister, Minister of MPWT signed a contract agreement with Korean construction firm Hanshin Engineering & Construction Co. Ltd with construction expected to ground break within the next few months.

H.E Sun Chanthol confirmed that after signing the contract, the company will proceed other procedure with the bank for about two-weeks and construction will start between November to December 2019.

Construction is expected to cost more than US$45 million and it will be divided into three sections with the first section begins from Ta Khmao roundabout to Ku Srouv roundabout, second section is from Ku Srouv roundabout to Ou Chombok and the third section is from Ou Chombok to Ang Tasom Market (Road No.22) totaling to 72.17 kilometer.

The project will be expanded on the old road and is constructed as asphalt concrete and the construction will take about 30 months.

H.E Sun Chanthol has urged construction company to pay close attention to the quality of roads, making sure that this road is in good quality for up to 9 or 10 years before repairing.
