New SR Airport to be Completed in 2023; Digital Connecting Transportation System Planned

Siem Reap International Airport Tour Transport Association (TTA) in collaboration with Nippon Koei Co., Ltd (NK) of Japan and Haystack Labs Studio Co., Ltd. (HAYSTACK) of Canada have drafted a passenger transport application for the new Siem Reap International Airport that is scheduled to be completed by March 2023.

The three institutions signed an MoU on 30 November for the establishment of the MaaS Project to enable national and international customers to certify the digital mobility service “Mobility as a Service (MaaS).”

The construction of the Siem Reap airport is expected to be completed in March 2023 and test flights will proceed later on. Meanwhile, official flights will start in mid-October 2023, according to Mr. Zou Yuhui, President of Yunan Air Investment Co., Ltd.

Mr Kim Phally, President of TTA, said that the establishment of the MaaS Project will assist national and international tourists with transportation services while also making the daily life of the locals more convenient.

Mr Jan Scazighino, Head of the Canadian Consulate in Cambodia, also said that the company’s participation provides a good solution for providing quality and safe transportation for tourists.

HE Bun Ratha, Director of Siem Reap International Airport of the Secretariat of Civil Aviation, fully supported this new achievement as the new airport will bring a lot of work for Cambodia.

HE Bun Ratha urged the TTA to cooperate with Yunan Air Investment (Cambodia) Air Management Co., Ltd to continue the business of passenger transport services at the new airport.

The construction of Siem Reap-Angkor International Airport started on 15 March 2020 and is scheduled to take a total construction period of 36 months with US$ 880 million budget. (Read more)
