New Water Treatment Plant Launched in Kampot Province, Bringing Supply to 18,500m3/day

A new water treatment plant with a production capacity of 5,000m3 / day in Kampot has been launched, bringing the provincial water supply up to over 18,500m3/day.

The inauguration ceremony was held on 9 January under the presidency of HE Cham Prasidh, Minister of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation.

The new treatment system uses the latest technology known as UF-MEMBRANE, which produces high-quality clean water with an automated distribution system, so people can drink water directly from the faucet.

Besides this project, the government is also cooperating with the private sector to plan and develop more treatment plants by 2025 along with the development of the Prek Teuk Chhou reservoir.

The supply of clean water nationwide has increased significantly. As of 2021, the number of households receiving clean water is over 1 million or equal to over 380 million cubic metres.

The government also plans to expand the water supply in urban areas to 90% by 2023 and 100% by 2025.
