One Road Break Ground While Nine Roads Over 70 Kilometers of New Rural Roads Inaugurated in Tboung Khmum

TBOUNG KHMUM, Cambodia – A new 6.30-kilometer rural road has commenced construction in Tboung Khmum Province, coinciding with the official inauguration of nine completed rural roads totaling 70.4 kilometers. The completion and launching ceremonies were presided over by H.E. Chhay Rithisen, Minister of Rural Development, and H.E. Eang Sophalleth, Minister of Environment, on November 24, 2025.

The construction of the new 6.30-kilometer road and the official opening of the 70.4 kilometers of completed roads are part of a national infrastructure program located entirely within Tboung Khmum Province. The project is an initiative of the Royal Government, implemented through the Ministry of Rural Development, and utilizes credit financing from the World Bank (WB). (read more)

This broader program is jointly carried out by the Ministry of Public Works and Transport and the Ministry of Rural Development over a nine-year period, from 2020 to 2029, with the goal of improving national, provincial, and rural road networks. Under its mandate, the Ministry of Rural Development is responsible for constructing 277 kilometers of Double Bituminous Surface Treatment (DBST) and concrete roads across three target provinces: Kampong Cham, Tboung Khmum, and Kratie.

During the official ceremony, H.E. Eang Sophalleth, Minister of Environment, fully endorsed the ongoing development projects across all sectors, especially emphasizing the importance of infrastructure.
