Aeon Mall Meanchey Selected as a Prime Station for Phnom Penh-Techo International Airport Rail Line

In an exciting development for Cambodia’s transportation infrastructure, the Ministry of Public Works and Transport (MPWT) has officially announced that the upcoming light rail or underground train project connecting Phnom Penh to Techo International Airport in Kandal province will include a strategically located station at Aeon Mall Meanchey.

This significant update was disclosed by HE Sun Chanthol, Senior Minister and Minister of Public Works and Transport, during the grand inauguration ceremony of the MPWT Public Service Center at Aeon Mall Meanchey on 29 June.

Highlighting the government’s vision for improved transportation connectivity, HE Sun Chanthol expressed, “In due course, once peace prevails in our country, the light rail or underground train station will be established at Aeon Mall Meanchey.” This revelation underscores the profound impact that the Phnom Penh-Techo International Airport Rail Line is set to have on the nation’s transportation landscape.

The MPWT is actively engaged in seeking potential partners to invest in the development of the light rail or underground train system. In this pursuit, discussions have been held with Aeon Mall Cambodia, aiming to identify an optimal location within the Aeon Mall complex for the station. This strategic collaboration with Aeon Mall Cambodia not only ensures convenient accessibility but also promises to enhance the overall transportation experience for commuters.
