PLMP launches Cambodia SME Championship Competition as opportunity for local entrepreneurs

PLMP Venture Capital has held a workshop on the management and SME registration process and information sharing on the “First Cambodia SME Championship Competition”. The forum is organised by PLMP Venture Capital to promote access to funding for SMEs in Cambodia and to stimulate revenue growth and expand business in the context of the fastest growing economies in ASIA.

The seminar was held at #325 Mao Tse Toung Boulevard, Phnom Penh, on the morning of the 06 May 2020, with 60 participants from the private sector, in particular from the real estate, information technology, food processing, media and other relevant sectors.

This exciting entrepreneurial forum was organised to give SMEs the opportunity to gain knowledge and expertise related to managing their businesses in preparation for the First Cambodia SME Championship Competition”, with the first round taking place on 03 July 2020.

This championship program is claimed to be the first of its kind in the country by providing an entrepreneurial platform gathering Start Ups, SMEs, entrepreneurs, venture capital firms, and expert speakers from among leading companies.

In his presentation on Preparedness for SMEs on the occasion, Dato ‘Sri Dr Peter Lim, Chairman of PLMP Venture Capital Co, said that the types of businesses that are subject to this program include: agricultural business, technology, food production and e-commerce.

He explained that PLMP will assess SMEs based on five criteria: business idea, team (business structure), business model, financial fund management and business time plan. Of these five criteria, he emphasised that managing “business time planning” is the key to business success but also the most difficult to implement.

“We will do this contest 10 times, every three months. First, we will finance the award-winning enterprise. After we have perfected 20 enterprises, we will start investing in the enterprise. We will choose the best companies that will have the opportunity to grow the fastest.” said Dr Peter Lim

Remarkably, PLMP Venture Capital will be the funding engine for PLMP, Creatanium & CSME group of companies in Cambodia & S.E.A technology projects.
