Poipet railway station selected as first stop for COVID-19 check up

To prevent the spread of COVID-19 spreading, Poipet railway station has been selected as the first stop for medical check-ups for more than 600 migrant labourers returning from Thailand on 23 March 2020.

The decision to select the facility was made following the prime minister’s responsive measures to use public schools as COVID-19 treatment centres, made via on the morning of 23 March 2020. (Read more)

10 among the 600 migrant labourers who had left Thailand through the Poipet international checkpoint were found to have abnormal health conditions with fevers. The suspected workers were sent to Dei Thmey district hospital for further examination.

Poipet railway station has recently been repaired thanks to an investment of US$96 million with US$13 million from the ADB and over US$83 million from the government budget, according to His Excellency Sun Chanthol in December 2019.
