Preah Vihear Registers Over 25k Plots of Land in Past Five Years

Preah Vihear province has registered more than 25,000 plots of land in the past five years, according to the provincial administration. Preah Vihear Governor, HE Kim Rithy, stated at a press conference on March 23, 2023, that the local government’s registration of land in the province has been a priority.

Governor Kim Rithy noted that separate and supplementary land registrations and registered state lands have totaled 429 and 848, respectively, covering an area of 15,000 hectares and 4,000 hectares of land.

“The registration process has been vital for the Land Management, Urban Planning, and Construction Sector in Preah Vihear, as it allows for the legal ownership and possession of real estate, which can lead to improved living standards for the local population,” said HE Kim Rithy.

HE added that the provincial government has received 34 cases of land disputes to date, with 13 resolved, 11 ongoing, and 10 cases referred to the Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning, and Construction.

The systematic registration of land in Preah Vihear province is a positive step towards protecting land rights and promoting real estate development in the province.
