Preah Vihear Authority warns mining investors to be careful as 22 mining companies are currently operating

The Preah Vihear province currently has 22 licensed mining companies conducting exploration and research in the area, prompting the provincial governor to issue a warning to potential investors to be careful and not fall prey to land brokers’ scams.

HE Kim Rithy, the Governor of Preah Vihear Province, confirmed the number of mining companies present in the province on March 23, 2023. He stated that Delcom Campuchea PLC Ltd, a large company exploring for gold, has already conducted a trial operation and produced over 20kg of gold since August 2022 in a 1,700-hectare area. However, the governor also cautioned that some land brokers may attempt to deceive potential investors by claiming their land is rich in minerals. As such, he urged investors to be cautious and conduct thorough research to avoid falling victim to scams.

The governor’s call for caution comes as the mining industry in Preah Vihear province continues to grow, with 22 licensed companies currently operating in the area. As such, potential investors must exercise due diligence to ensure their investments are secure.
