Public Bidding Opened for Two New Mining Sites 

The Ministry of Mines and Energy has allowed both national and international companies to bid for mine exploration licenses at two new sites in Tbong Khmum and Rattanakiri provinces.

According to a notice issued by the Ministry Mines on 02 September, the exploration zones opened for applications include i) a 107.10 sq. km zone located in Memot district of Tbong Khmum province, and ii) a100 sq. km zone in O’Yadao district of Ratanakkiri province.

Those interested shall apply for licenses at the Department of Industry, Mineral Resources (5th floor) of the Ministry of Mines and Energy.

Regarding mine restoration in Cambodia, a senior official from the Ministry of Mines and Energy in April claimed that Cambodia is expected to extract nearly 1 million ounces of gold based on the first gold mine study in the Okvau area in Kaev Seima district in Mondulkiri province. (Read more)

In March, the ministry also opened public bidding on mine exploration licenses in four areas in Preah Vihear, Oddar Meanchey, and Mondulkiri provinces. (Read more)
