Samdech Sar Kheng tells residential owners to report their foreign tenants

In a bid to control the presence of foreigners living in Cambodia, the Deputy Prime Minister has told all residential property owners to report their foreign tenants.

The directive was made after some owners have not understood their obligations and have not complied with the law.

In a letter signed on Friday by Samdech Krolahom Sar Kheng, Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister, both foreign and Khmer residential property owners must report the presence of foreigners residing in the building to the commune/Sangkat administrative police no later than 24 hours after taking residence.

The report shall follow a sample form or be conducted through a database system on the management of foreigners as set by the immigration department with reporting information which includes residing period, continuation period, and incidents involving foreigners.

Residential property owners can obtain the sample form and application form to register for the database system from the immigration department.

The same letter also states that any owner who does not report will be punished according to the provisions in the law.
