Singapore Launching First Taxi Drone Service in Early 2024

Singapore will use a modern and innovative way of transporting tourists to get new experiences and excitement with a 12-kilometre air drone that can fly up to two passengers. According to The Straits Time published on 12 July.

This type of taxi drone was developed by the German company Volocopter and is expected to go public in Singapore in early or mid-2024.

This taxi drone will initially be able to fly a distance of 12 kilometres. According to Mr Christian Bauer, Chief Commercial Officer of Volocopter, in the future, the company will develop its flying capacity to 35km, an altitude of 100 to 150 metres and a speed of 90km/h.

Mr Bauer stressed that the cost of an air taxi ride is even more special, as it is about 70 to 75% cheaper than the cost of a helicopter flight in Singapore.

Volocopter is currently awaiting the final approval from the Singapore government, as the air infrastructure is already in place.
