Sovanna Shopping Centre to Renovate for New Image

Sovanna Shopping Centre, which opened many years ago, is planning to renovate the main market building to be more attractive as the momentum of new shopping malls in Phnom Penh increases.

Improving the look of Sovanna Shopping Centre will require a temporary suspension of operations according to Chea Sokheak, general manager of Sovanna Shopping Centre.

Ms Sokheak said that operations in the mall will be temporarily suspend to make improvements and redesign new look to attract customers.

“The improvement of Sovanna Shopping Centre is a contribution to the economic development of Cambodia, as well as to promote and beautify Phnom Penh to be more attractive and better,” Ms Sokheak said.

Located in the Steung Meanchey area, Sovanna Shopping Centre was built over 40,000 square metres and has 5 floors.

Sovanna Shopping Centre is an investment owned by developer Overseas Cambodian Investment Corporation (OCIC). In addition to the Sovanna mall, the company also invested in the Sorya supermarket and the Ratana Plaza Market.

As Cambodia’s economy improves, the increasing income of people, retailers and supermarkets has been rising.

For Chea Sokheak, the expansion of the supermarket is due to the influx of foreign investors.

“Generally, Cambodia’s economy grows well and the influx of investors from overseas greatly increases the number of malls, and we need to improve the building to be attractive,” Ms Sokheak said.
