Stamp Duty Tax Exemption Extended to December 2021

The government has decided to extend the stamp duty tax exemption deadline for property worth less than US$70,000 from January to December 2021.

According to the official announcement released on 23 December, the government also urged developers to provide more discounts to buyers, with the aim to boost the economy through more property transactions.

The first announcement of tax exemption was made by PM Samdech Hun Sen on 24 February 2020, which set the deadline for January 2021.

The exemption will be applied for those property developers who registered at the Ministry of Economy and Finance and the Department of Economy and Finance while the purpose for doing so is to reduce the housing price as low as possible for low to middle-income citizens.

According to Samdech Hun Sen, the exemption also included condominiums. (Read more)

At present, stamp duty tax on real estate such as houses, buildings and other types of property is 4%.
