Bidding Results of Japan-funded Multi-million Projects to Be Announced
Results of the bidding process for the multi-million dollar Japanese-funded projects will be announced very soon, according to the Phnom Penh Municipality. On 27 October, 2018, Phnom Penh Municipality spokesman Mr Met Meas Pheakdey told Construction&Property Magazine that the results of the bidding for the ‘flood prevention and the rehabilitation of pipe system’ projects will be announced shortly after the delegates return to the country from Japan.

Airport Development Project in Poipet to Resume
The government has allowed a local firm to reopen an airport development project in Poipet City, according to civil aviation officials. On 22 October, 2018, Mr Sinn Chanserey Vutha, spokesman for State Secretary of Civil Aviation (SSCA) told Construction &Property Magazine that the domestic airport development project in Poipet was approved in principle by the government after years of suspension.

Prince Begins Construction of Major Project in Sihanoukville
Construction officially began over the weekend on a major development project in Sihanoukville Province by Prince Real Estate Group. According to a post on Prince’s Facebook’s page construction began on the 16.3-hectare Prince City Center development project. The project, which covers a total construction area of 700,000 square metres is approximately 800 metres from the twin lions roundabout close to the Serendipity Beach area.

Kampot Infrastructure Investment Fund Plans Feasibility Questioned
The feasibility of plans by the governor of Kampot to construct a high-speed rail link to Phnom Penh, have been questioned by an expert from the Ministry of Public Works and Transport (MPWT). On 4 October, 2018, MPWT spokesperson H.E Vasim Sorya told Construction&Property Magazine that “construction of high-speed railways costs on average between US$7-US$8 million per kilometre, therefore the investment capital of the project is too small”.

According to a Ministry of Commerce Facebook post on 2 October, 2018, UK Trade envoy H.E Edward Vaizey and British Ambassador to Cambodia H.E Tina Redshaw said that “currently there are many British construction companies looking for opportunities to enter into Cambodia’s market in order to bring modern technology and new architectural skills to develop the construction sector which is now booming”.

Three Chinese companies have signed a collaboration agreement on the establishment of an online commercial centre in Bavet, according to a report by FRESH NEWS on 30 September, 2018. According to the same source, the developer of the Svay Rieng border town project, Empire World Group, signed the agreement with Bauing Group and CFMA (City Facility Management) to create the OBC centre on 27 September, 2018.

A Chinese real estate firm has announced their development plan for a high-end residential building called the R & F Glory, according to a post on the Ministry of Information’s (MoI )facebook post on 28 September, 2018. R & F Properties has announced a US$700 million investment for a 174-metre high, 57-storey building on 8 hectares of land in the south of Phnom Penh.
