A beacon of growth
Cambodia is poised for economic growth in 2024, buoyed by a resurgence in tourism and government initiatives seen to boost the property sector, according to Property Report by PropertyGuru, the official magazine of the Awards.
Jules Kay, general manager of PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards and Events, said: “We welcome projects and developers to the latest edition of the Cambodia Property Awards as the kingdom emerges as a beacon of growth amid global economic challenges. Despite external market shifts and evolving local dynamics, the Cambodian real estate industry has shown impressive resilience, supported by foreign investments and a strategic shift towards affordability. The Cambodia Property Awards will once again showcase the positives that make the country a vibrant market that embraces innovation.”
In light of these opportunities, the PropertyGuru Cambodia Property Awards will not only recognise the achievements of developers in Phnom Penh but also those in the country’s world-famous tourist destinations and investment hubs such as Siem Reap and Sihanoukville.
The awards this year will closely follow the progression of the property sector alongside categories that recognise developers across various specialisations. The categories include the new ESG awards, recognising companies for achievements in sustainable design, sustainable construction, energy efficiency, and social impact.
Furthermore, the categories will evaluate a wide array of developments, ranging from sales galleries to townships, across various aspects such as investment appeal and integration with natural surroundings.
The best real estate to shine bright
The PropertyGuru Cambodia Property Awards feature an independent panel of judges, comprising experts from diverse segments of the property sector. This panel ensures a fair, transparent judging process, culminating in the selection of shortlisted nominees and eventual winners.
Winners have the opportunity to compete at the PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards Grand Final, where they can vie for regional accolades against their peers from across the Asia-Pacific region.
HLB, a global network of independent advisory and accounting firms, supervises the entire selection process, under the leadership of Paul Ashburn of HLB International Real Estate Group.
Sorn Seap, chairperson of the independent panel of judges and president of the Cambodian Valuers and Estate Agents Association (CVEA). said: “Cambodia’s best real estate is set to shine bright this year at the 9th edition of our Awards as the property sector repositions itself and adapts to challenges. With demand shifting to the domestic market, property seekers in Cambodia are now presented with abundant, incredible choices of built spaces in terms of location, price, and returns on investment. We’re excited to reward the developers and design practices responsible for Cambodia’s outstanding properties with the highest marks of excellence, showcasing their achievements to the rest of Asia.”
Joining Mr. Sorn, Mr. Kay, and Mr. Ashburn at the launch event in Phnom Penh was Thierry Tea, vice-president of OCIC Group, the winner of the Best Developer title at the 8th PropertyGuru Cambodia Property Awards 2023.
Diamond Bay Garden, a project by OCIC Group, would advance to win the Best Waterfront Condo Development (Asia) title at the 18th PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards Grand Final 2023. It joined excellent projects by Sir Stamford Raffles (Cambodia) Co., Ltd. and RM Commercial Co., Ltd. in representing Cambodia at the Grand Final.
