The Gov’t Grants Hope and Prosperity to Landless Individuals in Sesan District with over 3,000 hectares of land concession

In a resolute effort to address the plight of landless individuals and provide them with secure housing and farming opportunities, the Sesan District Authority has meticulously prepared over 3,000 hectares of social land concessions. This groundbreaking initiative aims to uplift the lives of the underprivileged by granting them access to land for residential and agricultural purposes within three communes.

The announcement regarding the application for social land concession, made on June 5, 2023, at Sre Tapan village, Sam Khuy commune, Sesan district, Stung Treng province, underscores the government’s commitment to equitable land distribution.

Under the visionary LASEDIII project, initiated by the Cambodian government, eligible individuals in Sam Khuy commune, Sre Kor commune, and Phluk commune can submit their applications at the respective commune halls starting from June 15, 2023, for a period of 22 days.

Mr. Sovann Piseth, District Governor, emphasized the transparent and accountable nature of the process, ensuring that each family’s application will be carefully examined and evaluated by local authorities.

It is imperative to note that the Royal Government’s policy for providing these land concessions prioritizes households with incomes equal to or below the poverty line, specifically those falling under categories K1 and K2.

Successful applicants will have the opportunity to build houses measuring 40 meters by 60 meters on the allocated land, along with agricultural plots ranging from 3 to 5 hectares, depending on the size of the family.

The significance of this initiative cannot be overstated, as it paves the way for uplifting countless families from the cycle of landlessness and opens doors to enhanced livelihoods and economic stability. By ensuring equitable access to land, the LASEDIII project promises to empower individuals, foster sustainable farming practices, and promote thriving communities in the Sesan district.
