Mekong River Bridge in Kratie Province Achieves 77% Completion, Set to Fully Operate by September 2025

The Mekong River Bridge project in Kratie province has reached a major milestone, with 77.02% of the work completed as of December 2024. Spanning an impressive 1.761 kilometers with a width of 13.55 meters, this landmark infrastructure project is set to enhance regional connectivity and stimulate economic growth.

The project also includes a 31.69-kilometre connecting road that links NR 7 (Kla Stuep Roundabout) to NR 60B, which is currently 53.14% complete.

According to the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, this ambitious project is part of a broader NR network that connects Kratie and Kampong Thom provinces, facilitating the integration of major arteries such as NRs 6, 7, 71, and 73. Additional components include two medium bridges and a short bridge, further underlining the project’s importance in strengthening Cambodia’s transportation infrastructure.

The project is being constructed by the Shanghai Construction Group at a total cost of USD 111 million, generously funded by the People’s Republic of China.
