Enhancing Connectivity: Completion of Three Vital Roads in Battambang, Mondulkiri, and Stung Treng

In a significant stride towards infrastructure development, three crucial rural roads spanning a combined distance of over 30 kilometers have reached 100% completion. The milestone was announced by the inter-ministerial committee, consisting of the Ministry of Rural Development and the Ministry of Economy and Finance, who conducted thorough inspections and evaluations.

The successful handover and acceptance of these road projects, which encompassed paved, gravel, and rock mix surfaces, as well as drainage systems, took place from 7th to 9th June 2023 in the provinces of Mondulkiri, Stung Treng, and Battambang.

Implemented under the supervision of the Engineering Command of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces, the projects are as follows:

Project 1: A 7,500-meter-long gravel road, 8 meters wide and 0.2 meters thick, equipped with 11 round drains and 2 road signs. This road serves as a vital link connecting National Road 76 to the Cambodia-Vietnam border ring road at post 60/15 (1) in Pusam village, Sen Monorom commune, Oreang district, Mondulkiri province.

Project 2: A 7,000-meter-long paved road, 8 meters wide and 0.2 meters thick, accompanied by 10 three-way round drains, 6 two-round round drains, and 5 five-round round drains. This road traverses the border area (Cambodia-Laos) at Dong Kralor Strait in Stung Treng Province.

Project 3: A two-section paved road totaling 13,000 meters in length, 8 meters wide and 0.2 meters thick for the first section. The right-wing section spans 5,500 meters, stretching from the intersection of 400 checkpoints in Chhorkaka village, Samlot commune, towards Sen Chao checkpoint in Samlot district, Battambang province, and Phally Phalla checkpoint in Pailin province. The left-wing section extends 7,500 meters, commencing from the intersection of Port 400 towards Village 83, Ta Tok Commune, reaching Chakriya and Ting Mong Pass in Samlot District, Battambang Province. The project also encompasses the installation of three street signs.

The Inter-Ministerial Commission, acknowledging the successful completion of the validity period, has accepted the first project, while the second and third projects have achieved a 100% acceptance rate based on the request of the recipients.

These newly completed roads will not only enhance connectivity within and between provinces but also foster socio-economic development, facilitating smoother transportation and accessibility for local communities and businesses alike.
